Who is Napoleon Bonaparte ?

Napoleon Bonaparte was a French military and a political leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and led several successful campaigns during the revolutionary wars.

He was born in Corsica, an island located on the Mediterranean coast, on August 15, 1768. Napoleon's family were of modest means. Napoleon did his schooling in mainland France and graduated from the military academy in 1785. Napoleon was commissioned as a second lieutenant of an artillery detachment in the French army. He was on leave when the French Revolution broke out in 1789. Napoleon had returned to active military duty after coming back to France.

While France was fighting against other European monarchies since 1792. In a series of battles taking place in Italy during 1796, Napoleon led a French army to victory over Austria. His first win against Austria brought territorial gains for France. 

 In 1804, Napoleon had introduced the people the civil code of conduct. Napoleon as a French leader accomplished many things and led to the development of France.

The civil code of Napoleon:

1. Includes standardized weights and measures.

2. Equality before the law.

3. Removed feudal system.

4. Abolished all privileges related to birth.

5. Serfdom and manorial dues were removed.
